Sarah Louvion, born in France, studied flute with the professors Raymond Guiot, Philippe Pierlot and Vincent Lucas. In addition to her education as a flautist, Sarah Louvion studied mathematics and physics at the University. She received her diploma with an emphasis on flute and chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris (classes of Alain Marion and Sophie Cherrier). There, she was subsequently admitted to the prestigous master class for flute.
Sarah Louvion is a prize winner of numerous international competitions: In 2001, she was awarded the first prize in Kobe (Japan) and won third prize in Geneva in the same year. At the “Syrinx” competition in Rome, she won second prize in 1999.
She is a regular guest performer at numerous national and international festivals. In the year 2000, she was nominated “révélation classique” (“classic revelation”) by the Adami and invited to the MIDEM in Cannes. She had guest performances at Prades Festival, a serie “déclic” of Radio France supported by the AFAA (Association Francaise d’Action Artistique), at the Weilburg Festival in Germany, and at the international festival in Colmar where she premiered the sonata for flute and piano composed for, and dedicated
to her by Guillaume Connesson.Since 2002, she is principal flautist of the Frankfurter Museumsorchester / the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra.
She has played with the Frankfurt RSO, the WDR in Cologne, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphonic Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Orchestre National de France, the Lyon Opera Orchestra, and many others well known orchestras. Numerous engagements make her a regular guest in Asia, where she also teaches master classes.
As a soloist, she has performed with the Frankfurter Museumsorchester, the Orchestre de Chambre National de Toulouse, the Orchestre National d’Ile de France, the Orchestre Pasdeloup, the Amadeus chamber orchestra, the Orchestre de Douai, the ensemble of Tokyo, and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, to name but a few.
As a passionate chamber musician, she plays together with the pianist Delphine Bardin and the harpist Françoise Friedrich. In addition to that, she is a member of the “Hindemith Bläser Quintett”.
Sarah Louvion was supported by the Yamaha Foundation of Europe, the Meyer Foundation, and the Mécénat Musical de la Société Générale and is now sponsored by the Fondation Groupe Banque Populaire.
